The ongoing story of the rebuilding of a 1977 Honda CB550 F2                                      by  Tom McQuiggan

For Sale  (Now Sold 5/1/06)

1977 Honda CB550 Super Sport F2                                                                    Location : Bolton (Nr Manchester)

This bike is almost 30 years old and yet she looks gorgeous! A classic piece of 70's history and one of the most popular bikes of that era.  Cheaper than the legendary CB750, better styling than the 400/4, more power, more grace and more beauty.

There are countless photos on here to allow you to get a good idea of what the bike's like, but I still recommend that you arrange to see her BEFORE BIDDING. Once the auction is over, you are the owner and need to immediately pay a £100 deposit by PayPal and the balance in cash when you collect. As the new owner, you will need to collect it quickly so that I don't have to store it (I need the space). The bike is pretty damned original apart from the Motad exhaust, the Power Air Filters and the 76 model clocks. The bike has done 19,000 miles and I have kept the old clocks to pass on to you. The old MOT certificates all correspond correctly with this mileage. Needless to say, the indicated mileage is now 00000 due to the brand new clocks.

The paintwork is in superb condition with just the odd blemish here and there. Very minor. Chrome all over is pretty darned good as you can see. If you don't want the power filters, you can put the original air-box back on because I've kept hold of it. I've also got the original set of "sweeping" 4-into-1 frontpipes which I may include in the sale. They're in good condition but the silencer needs replacing.

The bike has no Tax or Mot  and is sold as seen.  If you want to ride it away illegally, then that's up to you, but I would strongly urge you to get it collected in a van or on a trailer to keep on the correct side of the law!

If you can't wait for the auction to end, and would like to submit an offer, feel free to do so....

11/2/06 - Said Goodbye ....

This morning sometime just after 7:30, A&G Services arrived with their high-roof, long wheelbase van to collect the bike. Their guy was absolutely first-class and immediately put my mind at ease about strapping up a refurbished bike in the back of a van!

I'd put a lot of hard work into this bike and even though it wasn't my responsibility, I was more than keen to make sure it arrived at the other end in one piece. A&G's guy strapped the bike in perfectly and put more padding on it than on the walls of a loony bin!

When it arrives at the other end, the buyer is going to send me a photo which I will post here.
