Flightsims & CombatSims

In addition to Amateur Radio, Painting, Motorbikes and Photography, I’m also interested in Flight Sims and Combat Sims. This is yet another long-term hobby that I’ve enjoyed dabbling in, starting way back in the 1980s when the graphics were incredibly crude. Things have changed sooooo much!! 7 I’ll build a separate bank of pages on FlighStims when I get time.

Music & Hi-Fi

Yet another passion - music! I could quite easily sell my TV and only ever listen to music. I have very varied tastes and am happy to explore virtually all genres apart from Pop and Country. I like Jazz, Classical, Electronic, R&B, Blues, Rap and well, anything! In years gone by I had a huge vinyl collection and then switched to CD. I’ve still got hundreds of CD’s stored away. I now tend to stream HD music like most other people and as a result, my love of Hi-Fi has also waned somewhat. I now tend to listen through AirPod Pros or via a Denon and to my B&W P6 speakers. I know some people strongly dislike the idea of streaming music and I was one of them to be honest, but technolgy has really moved on and the quality of the stream is pretty awesome. The absolute best thing about services like Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, etc, is the ability to explore new artists, bands and genres. It’s just so quick and easy!!

Model Making!

It’s beginning to sound like a stuck record this, but Model Making is another long-term hobby of mine. Probably the longest actually! I have been building plastic model aircraft since I was a wee lad and since then I’ve added cars and wooden boats. They are vastly more complicated than they used to be, but also vastly better made. One wooden boat (St. Roch) took me 4 years to build, LOL. Again, it’s one of those hobbies that you can put to one side if you get fed up or are struggling with it and then pick it up later. I’ve got quite a little stash of builds right now. Honestly, I don’t know how I squeeze verything in!!!

PLUS OF COURSE…

I’m a regular bloke, so I do enjoy spending lots of time with my beautiful wife. Sometimes I have to put away my toys and wear my ‘big-boy’ pants, LOL
